VC - vowel consonant

The children in Miss Barlow's phonics Group will:-
- recap all short and long sounds in the alphabet
- practise reading and writing VC and CVC words
- practise reading tricky words that were sent home as flashcards when your child was in Foundation Stage the to I no go so into he she we me be was you they all are my her said have like do some come were there little one when out what where here with

- recap that there are 26 letters in the alphabet
- recap that there are 5 vowels in the alphabet
- recap that there are 21 consonants in the alphabet
- recap that 'a' is the first letter in the alphabet, that 'z' is the last and that 'm' and 'n' are in the middle of the alphabet
- Extend CVC words to CCVC words e.g. spot flag
- practise reading and writing sentences.
Your child's homework is to read their book to an adult every evening and to read and write the words listed above. You need to focus on two of these words a week for reading and writing.
