Computer Science: Can you make simple lines of code to move the Bee-Bot?

Beech have had a great time in their computer sciences lessons. They accessed Bee-Bot Online (desktop friendly): https://beebot.terrapinlogo.com/ in order to write simple lines of code to move the Bee-Bot. They also discussed and refined their vocabulary choices to give each other accurate commands. They also did lots of troubleshooting such as working out the need to clear the last set of instructions before giving new ones.

E-Safety: Can you explain different ways to use technology safely

Online gaming. We discussed why games have restrictions and why they are important.  We also talked about only playing online games with the permission of our adults and why it is important to only play online games with people that we know.

E-Safety: Can you explain different ways to use technology safely?

The children have been looking at how to stay safe when using toys that connect to the internet.  We thought about what toys we have that connect to the internet and discussed the ways we can stay safe.

We discussed what malware is and how to protect ourselves from it.  There was lots of great discsussion about only opening emails from people that we know, and not clicking on links or popups when using apps.

Digital Citizens: Can you log onto Education City using an ipad?

Today we also practised using the internet on the ipads to find the Education City website and to log in using our usernames and passwords. We used skills such as; remebering which icon on the ipad is the internet, capitalising letters in our usernames and changing the keyboard to numbers for our passwords.

E-Safety: Can you explain different ways to use technology safely?

We read through our E-Safety Path as a class and then signed to say they had understood the policy. We discussed some of the things we would be exploring and that any and all questions or worries are welcome so we can help to keep the children safe online.
